Abstract

Pregnancy is a process when the fetus grows and develops in the uterus, several factors that affect pregnancy include the mother's age. Currently, more and more women are delaying pregnancy under the age of 20 for various reasons. In the Kepatihan Village, Kaliwates District, Jember Regency, the number of women who delayed their first pregnancy aged <20 was 32 out of 64 married women and 140 out of 459 women aged 20-35 years. Methods: The study design used a comparative study method, by comparing pregnancy delays for mothers aged <20 years with mothers aged 20-35 years. The sample in this study amounted to 76 people with the sampling technique using proportional random sampling. Results: 18.7% of mothers aged <20 years delayed pregnancy and 4% did not postpone pregnancy while 26.7% of mothers aged 20-35 years delayed pregnancy and 50.7% did not delay pregnancy. Conclusion: There is a prevalence of delayed pregnancy in mothers aged <20 years and 20-35 years. It can be concluded that mothers aged <20 years have a chance of delaying pregnancy 8.867 times compared to those aged 20-35 years.
