The activity was held on September 25, 2025, with 40 participants aged ≥30 years, the majority of whom were in the 40–49 age group (50%) and female (65%). The examination results showed that 67.5% of participants had hypertension (grade I and II), an average Body Mass Index (BMI) of 25.38 kg/m² (overweight category), and several participants had above-normal blood sugar levels. These findings indicate a high risk of degenerative diseases among the elderly community in Ngandeng Hamlet. Through individual counseling, group education, and community empowerment, this activity successfully increased participants' understanding and awareness of the importance of early detection and healthy lifestyle changes to prevent complications from hypertension and diabetes mellitus.
2026-06-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal IDAMAN (Induk Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Pedesaan) https://ojs.poltekkes-malang.ac.id/idaman/article/view/5750 Strengthening the Role of the Village Children’s Forum and Socialization of the Learning Harmonization Program as an Effort to Reduce the Early Marriage Rate in Lembengan Village 2025-08-08T05:05:24+00:00 ririn handayani zahraaina12@gmail.com Endang Lifchatullaillah endang@uds.ac.id Irma Sahvitri Lawado irmalawado@unilu.ac.id
Early marriage remains one of the social issues faced in various regions. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of elderly community health workers (cadres) in early stroke detection, utilization of the Public Safety Center (PSC) 119 emergency system, and application of the Risk Stroke Score (RiSS) as a community-based prevention tool. The program was conducted through health education sessions, hands-on training on the RiSS application, simulation of early stroke detection and emergency referral procedures, and evaluation using pre- and post-tests. The results showed a significant improvement in cadres’ knowledge and competencies, with all participants achieving a “good” category after the intervention. Cadres were able to independently assess stroke risk using the RiSS application and demonstrated increased preparedness in activating PSC 119 during emergency situations. This program effectively strengthened the role of elderly cadres in community-based stroke prevention and emergency response. It is recommended that this program be expanded to a wider community and disseminated through scientific publications to support sustainable stroke prevention efforts.
2026-06-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal IDAMAN (Induk Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Pedesaan) https://ojs.poltekkes-malang.ac.id/idaman/article/view/6380 Utilization of Music Therapy as a Complementary Intervention for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients in the Community 2026-04-15T02:05:16+00:00 nurul hidayah nurul_hidayah@poltekkes-malang.ac.id Budiono Budiono nurul_hidayah@poltekkes-malang.ac.id Agus Setyo Utomo nurul_hidayah@poltekkes-malang.ac.id
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease associated with high clinical and psychosocial burden, requiring consistent self-management. Psychological distress and poor sleep quality are common among patients with type 2 DM and may negatively affect glycemic control. Music therapy, as a complementary intervention, is considered safe, affordable, and easy to implement in community settings. This community service program aimed to implement a music therapy intervention and evaluate its short-term effects on distress, sleep quality, and capillary blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 DM. A quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was used. A total of 36 participants were recruited using purposive sampling. The intervention consisted of guided music listening combined with breathing exercises, conducted over four weeks (eight group sessions and daily independent practice). The results showed a decrease in distress scores, improvement in sleep quality, and a reduction in average capillary blood glucose levels after the intervention. These findings indicate that music therapy has the potential to support psychological well-being and metabolic control in patients with DM. In conclusion, music therapy is a feasible and acceptable complementary intervention that can be integrated into community-based diabetes management programs. Further studies with control groups and longer follow-up are recommended.
2026-06-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal IDAMAN (Induk Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Pedesaan) https://ojs.poltekkes-malang.ac.id/idaman/article/view/6381 Improving Community Knowledge and Participation in Stunting Prevention through the HOPES Program at Kaliwates Primary Health Center, Jember 2026-04-04T05:47:34+00:00 yuningsih yuningsih@uds.ac.id Asri Iman Sari yuningsih@uds.ac.id Ai Nur Zannah yuningsih@uds.ac.id Ririn Handayani yuningsih@uds.ac.id Dinar Perbawati yuningsih@uds.ac.id Ernawati Anggraeni yuningsih@uds.ac.id Trisna Pangestuning Tyas yuningsih@uds.ac.id Jeni Palupi yuningsih@uds.ac.id
Stunting remains a major public health problem that affects not only children’s physical growth but also their cognitive, motor, and socioemotional development. This condition requires a comprehensive response through a holistic and integrative approach involving families, community health volunteers, health workers, and early childhood education providers. This community service program aimed to improve community knowledge and participation in stunting prevention and management through the HOPES Program in the working area of Kaliwates Primary Health Center, Jember. The program was implemented using a participatory approach consisting of preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The target participants included families with stunted children, health cadres, preschool teachers, and health personnel. The intervention was delivered through health education, discussion sessions, training, and practical activities covering stunting, child growth and development stimulation, nutrition, sanitation, anemia, deworming, and the use of tools for early stimulation, detection, and intervention of child development. Program evaluation was conducted using pre test and post test questionnaires and participation observation sheets. The findings showed a significant increase in the mean knowledge score of participants from 60.1 ± 8.3 to 82.5 ± 6.9 with p < 0.001. The proportion of participants with a good level of knowledge increased from 20.0% to 80.0%, while active participation during the activities exceeded 80%. These findings indicate that a participatory approach based on holistic integrative services is effective in strengthening community capacity for stunting prevention and management. Similar programs should be sustained through cross sector collaboration at the primary health care level.
2026-06-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal IDAMAN (Induk Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Pedesaan) https://ojs.poltekkes-malang.ac.id/idaman/article/view/6519 Mentoring Adolescent Girls as a Strategy for Anemia Prevention 2026-04-30T11:53:02+00:00 Kiswati SST.,M.Kes kiswati.frq@gmail.com Riza Umami kiswati.frq@gmail.com
Anemia among adolescent girls remains a significant public health problem both globally and nationally. The high prevalence is mainly caused by increased iron requirements during growth and menstruation, as well as low knowledge and adherence to iron supplementation. This community service program aimed to improve knowledge and hemoglobin (Hb) levels among adolescent girls through health education and iron supplementation. The methods included hemoglobin level screening, health education using video and leaflet media, and weekly iron tablet supplementation for two months with regular monitoring. The participants were 50 adolescent girls from Mitra Junior High School, Jember Regency. The results showed a significant improvement in knowledge, with the proportion of good knowledge increasing from 0% to 16%, and poor knowledge decreasing from 66% to 6%. In addition, hemoglobin levels improved, with normal Hb increasing from 40% to 64%, and anemia prevalence decreasing from 60% to 36%. In conclusion, the combination of education and iron supplementation is effective in improving knowledge and hemoglobin status among adolescent girls. However, further efforts are needed, including adherence monitoring, continuous nutrition education, and multisectoral involvement to optimize anemia prevention programs.
2026-06-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal IDAMAN (Induk Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Pedesaan)
