High intensity of gadget use in parents may interfere with the quality of the interaction so that it becomes a risk to the development of children's speech and language. The purpose of this research was to analyze the intensity of parents’ gadget use with the speech and language development of children aged 4–5 years at TK Al-Huda Kota Kediri. This research was included in correlational research with a cross- sectional design, and used a total sample of 42 parents and children aged 4–5 years. Data analysis used Spearman rank statistical test. Most of the parents had gadget use intensity in moderate category (76.19%), and the children were in speech and language development according to expectation (76.2%). The result of data analysis showed a significant correlation between the intensity of parents in using gadget and the development of children's speech and language (p= 0.000), with moderate negative correlation coefficient (r = -0.608). It means that the higher the intensity of gadget use in parents, the higher the risk of children experiencing delay in speech and language development. Parents’ gadget use in moderate category can build good quality of interaction so that speech and language development can grow according to expectation. It is expected that parents reduce the duration and frequency in using gadget, especially when interacting with the child, so that the child’s development remains optimal according to their age stage.
Rika Aini Rahmawati Kiki Azizurohmah, Susanti Pratamaningtyas, Dwi Estuning Rahayu, Koekoeh Hardjito Copyright (c) 2026 Health and Scientific Journal https://ojs.poltekkes-malang.ac.id/HSJ/article/view/7042 Wed, 30 Sep 2026 00:00:00 +0000 THE EFFECT OF EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS ON CONTRACEPTIVE METHODS ON THE KNOWLEDGE OF PROSPECTIVE BRIDES REGARDING CONTRACEPTIVES METHODS AT THE OFFICE OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS IN KEDIRI REGENCY https://ojs.poltekkes-malang.ac.id/HSJ/article/view/7062
Marriage before reaching reproductive maturity (<20 years) poses a risk to reproductive health due to the prospective spouses’ limited knowledge of contraceptives; therefore, effective educational media such as videos are required. This study aims to analyse the effect of educational videos introducing contraceptive methods on the knowledge of female adolescent prospective brides marrying before reaching reproductive maturity at the Office of Religious Affairs in Kediri Regency. This study employed a pre-experimental, single-group, pre-test-post-test design involving 41 adolescent prospective brides at the Offices of Religious Affairs in the sub-districts of Ngancar, Mojo and Wates, selected using total sampling. Data were collected using a Guttman-scale knowledge questionnaire and analysed using a Paired Sample T-Test. The results showed that the average knowledge score increased from 9.4634 (pre-test) to 12.3415 (post-test), with a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05); consequently, H0 was rejected and Ha accepted. Prior to the intervention, the majority of respondents fell into the ‘poor knowledge’ category (70.7%), whilst after the intervention, the proportion in the ‘good’ category rose to 31.7%. These results indicate that educational video media has a significant effect on improving the knowledge of teenage prospective brides regarding contraceptives, and can therefore serve as an alternative medium for premarital education at the Office of Religious Affairs.
Nabilla Putri Adilla, Desy Dwi Cahyani, Lumastari Ajeng Wijayanti, Indah Rahmaningtyas Copyright (c) 2026 Health and Scientific Journal https://ojs.poltekkes-malang.ac.id/HSJ/article/view/7062 Wed, 30 Sep 2026 00:00:00 +0000 REFLEXOLOGY FOR ANXIETY AND NAUSEA IN BREAST CANCER PATIENTS: A MINI REVIEW https://ojs.poltekkes-malang.ac.id/HSJ/article/view/7092
Introduction: Breast cancer patients frequently experience nausea and anxiety during treatment, which may reduce comfort and quality of life. Reflexology is a complementary non-pharmacological therapy that may help manage these symptoms. This study aimed to review the effectiveness of reflexology in reducing nausea and anxiety among breast cancer patients. Methods: A systematic review was conducted by searching scientific publications published between 2018 and 2023 through international electronic databases, including PubMed, Cochrane Library, Elsevier, ProQuest, and Google Scholar. Articles were selected based on their relevance to reflexology interventions among breast cancer patients. Results: The search identified ten randomized controlled trial (RCT) articles that met the inclusion criteria. All studies reported positive outcomes following reflexology intervention. Reflexology was found to help reduce nausea and anxiety among breast cancer patients, suggesting its potential to improve patients’ comfort and psychological well-being during cancer treatment. Conclusion: Reflexology demonstrates potential as a complementary therapy for reducing nausea and anxiety among breast cancer patients. It may serve as a supportive approach alongside conventional cancer care. Further studies involving larger samples, standardized intervention protocols, and consistent outcome measurements are needed to strengthen the evidence regarding the effectiveness of reflexology in breast cancer care.
Anis Nurlaili, Finta Isti Kundarti, Ira Titisari Copyright (c) 2026 Health and Scientific Journal https://ojs.poltekkes-malang.ac.id/HSJ/article/view/7092 Wed, 30 Sep 2026 00:00:00 +0000 THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FAMILY HISTORY OF DIABETES MELLITUS AND HBA1C CATEGORIES AMONG POSTPARTUM WOMEN ATAU ASSOCIATION BETWEEN FAMILY HISTORY OF DIABETES MELLITUS AND GLYCEMIC STATUS BASED ON HBA1C AMONG POSTPARTUM WOMEN https://ojs.poltekkes-malang.ac.id/HSJ/article/view/7099
Diabetes mellitus is a global health problem with a continuously increasing prevalence. The postpartum period is an important time to detect glucose metabolism disorders, particularly among women with risk factors such as a family history of diabetes mellitus. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between family history of diabetes mellitus and diabetes mellitus risk among postpartum women based on HbA1c levels. A quantitative study with a correlational analytic design and cross-sectional approach was conducted among 26 postpartum women at 35–42 days postpartum in the working area of Ngasem Public Health Center, Kediri Regency, from January to May 2026. Participants were selected using purposive sampling. Family history data were collected through structured interviews, while diabetes mellitus risk was assessed based on HbA1c levels. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of α=0.05. Most respondents had no family history of diabetes mellitus (69.2%) and had normal HbA1c levels (81.0%). Prediabetes was identified in 19.0% of respondents, while no respondents were classified as having diabetes mellitus. The Chi-square test showed p=0.115 (p>0.05), indicating no significant relationship between family history of diabetes mellitus and diabetes mellitus risk among postpartum women based on HbA1c levels. The absence of a significant association may reflect the limited sample size and the influence of other factors that were not assessed in this study.
Ira Titisari, Finta Isti Kundarti, Triatmi Andri Yanuarini, Ririn Indriani, Rahajeng Siti Nur Rahmawati Copyright (c) 2026 Health and Scientific Journal https://ojs.poltekkes-malang.ac.id/HSJ/article/view/7099 Wed, 30 Sep 2026 00:00:00 +0000 MIDWIFERY CARE FOR A 16-YEAR-OLD ADOLESCENT GIRL WITH ANEMIA https://ojs.poltekkes-malang.ac.id/HSJ/article/view/7112
Anemia are major nutritional problems among Indonesian adolescent girls, with high prevalence despite existing interventions.
