The Effect of Balanced Nutrition Counseling with Media Booklets on Knowledge, Attitudes, Diet, Physical Activity and Weight Loss of Teenagers in Overweight SMPN 1 Malang
The prevalence of overweight adolescents based on Basic Health Research (RISKESDAS) in 2013 in adolescents aged 13-15 years increased from 4.9% (2008) to 10.8% (2013). The results of the preliminary studies conducted in classes VII and VIII Malang State Middle School 1 found that students in the overweight category amounted to 29.1% included in the category of national health problems. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of balanced nutrition counseling on booklet media on nutrition knowledge, attitudes, diet, physical activity, and overweight adolescents in Malang 1 junior high school. The research method used Pre-experiment using the non randomized control group posttest design. The independent variables of this study are balanced nutrition counseling with booklet media and the dependent variables are knowledge, attitudes, diet, physical activity, and overweight adolescent weight. This research was conducted at Malang 1 Public Junior High School on April 15 - May 15, 2019. The population in this study were students with overweight nutritional status as many as 65 students in class VII and VIII of SMP 1 Malang, then obtained 40 samples from the total population that met the inclusion criteria . The results of this study indicate that balanced nutrition counseling with booklet media is more effective in increasing knowledge, attitudes, eating patterns in tubers, vegetables, legumes and sugar compared to extension groups without booklet media. Balanced nutrition counseling with booklet media was not effective in increasing the diet of animal food groups, fat / oil, and physical activity.
